One thing is for certain...North Dakota has an extreme affection for the game of golf.  It seems that almost every North Dakota town, no matter the size, has some sort of golf course.  This love for golf couldn't be more evident than in North Dakota's capitol city, Bismarck. In fact, the Bismarck - Mandan area is currently ranked 29th "Best Metro Area for Golf" in the USA by Golf Digest (2003 - 2004).

The city of Bismarck boasts four 18 - hole courses (Hawktree, Riverwood, Tom O'Leary, and Apple Creek), one 9 - hole course (Pebble Creek), one 3 - hole junior course (Junior Links), and an indoor 2 - tiered, 31 - station driving range (Fore Seasons Center - Golf Dome).

The city of Mandan, directly across the Missouri River, boasts one 18 - hole course (Prairie West) and one 9 - hole course (Mandan Municipal).
